About Me
Hi, I’m Amanda. I’m a compliance and risk professional with 8+ years of experience across banking, fintech, and digital assets.
My path started in the classroom. As a fine art educator, I learned to make complex material accessible, to measure whether learning actually happened, and to build a lot with limited resources. Those skills became the foundation of my compliance career.
Where I’ve worked
- Banking: At a regional bank, I delivered AML training, completed suspicious activity reports, and handled OFAC screening.
- Fintech: At a global consulting firm, I led a team of 15 quality specialists supporting a $2B portfolio for a major fintech client. I ran Global Sanctions QA for a global e-commerce marketplace. At a leading peer-to-peer payments company, I built Quality Control processes and authored compliance policies.
- Digital assets: In my current role at a global digital asset exchange, I lead 2nd-line compliance testing across Sanctions, KYC, EDD, and Financial Investigations. I led a multi-jurisdiction external AML audit. I also led the first- and second-line frameworks for the company’s 3 Lines of Defense model.
What I focus on today
My work centers on compliance governance: risk assessment, policy, testing, issues management, training, and reporting. I’m especially interested in using AI and automation to make compliance programs more scalable and measurable, with human oversight built in.
I’m not a check-the-box person. I believe compliance can be practical and audit-defensible.
Why this site
I created this site to share my path from the classroom to fintech and to support others building their own career pivots. I’m still on that journey, and I document what I learn along the way.
A few coffee facts
My favorite talk: a Compliance All Hands presentation on how blockchain could bring transparency to coffee sales, from farmer to distributor.
My order: a cortado. The name comes from the Spanish word cortar, “to cut,” because the milk cuts the espresso.
What I care about: ethical and sustainable coffee trade, where clear standards protect people at every step of the supply chain.
